Cobalt hydroxide and cobalt oxides
Cobalt hydroxide and cobalt oxides are precursors for the production of cobalt metal and cobalt salts, which are used in batteries, catalysts, pigments, ceramics and magnetic materials. In catalysis, cobalt oxides can be used as a catalyst or a catalyst support for various reactions, such as oxidation of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and ammonia, reduction of nitric oxide, and water-gas shift reaction. It has high activity, selectivity, and durability.
Lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) is synthesized by using cobalt hydroxide (Co(OH)2) and lithium hydroxide (LiOH). Lithium cobalt oxide can be used as a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, as it has high specific capacity, good rate performance, and excellent cycling stability.
